Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in a water based, nutrient rich solution.
Growing with hydroponics comes with many advantages. Plants mature up to 25% faster and produce up to 30% more than plants grown in soil. When used indoors, the environment is controlled; meaning no pests, seasonality, or weather conditions for the plants to contend with. Since the plants are grown where they are consumed, the environmental impacts of transportation and packaging are eliminated and preservatives are not needed.
The system pictured above is called an Ebb & Flow Hydroponic System. The nutrient solution in the reservoir is pumped into the plant tray every few hours, providing plants with the water and nutrients they need, and then the water slowly drains out, allowing the root system to get oxygen.
